What is CLIL and how is it different from a normal English course?
CLIL stands for Content and Language Integrated Learning
It means subjects are taught in another language, for example Geography, Science, History or Maths. Students use language to learn content and content to learn language – the two are integrated and the focus of the lesson is equally balanced between them both.
What are the benefits for our learners?
Learners are motivated
Learning how to learn – students develop learning strategies
Meaningful interaction – there is a reason to communicate
Clear objectives
Confidence Building
Developing thinking skills and creative skills
Memory – learners remember more with challenging tasks
A focus on communication rather than accuracy
Team work, working together on projects, comparing and sharing
